Radius, a Cambridge, Mass.-based drug company focused on osteoporosis and women's health, has raised $57.5 million in second-round funding. The Wellcome Trust and existing investor MPM Capital co-led the deal. Vintage Venture Partners, an Israel-based secondary firm, has closed its third fund with $125 million in capital commitments. The fund will acquire limited partner interests of Israel-related venture capital funds and private equity funds, and direct portfolios of Israel-related technology investments. www.vintageventures.com
Bay City Capital, a San Francisco-based VC firm, is pre-marketing its fifth fund with a $425 million target. Bay City Capital Fund IV closed in 2004 with $350 million.
CIT Group Inc. has agreed to acquire the U.S. Business Technology Finance unit of Citigroup Inc. No financial terms were disclosed, except that the unit's total assets are approximately $2 billion. www.cit.com
The Carlyle Group has agreed to sell Landmark Aviation and Standard Aero to Dubai Aerospace Enterprise. The transaction is valued at $1.8 billion, with around $1.03 billion being used for the Standard Aero acquisition. Mimosa Systems Inc., a Santa Clara, Calif.-based email archiving company, has raised $17 million in Series C funding. Mayfield led the deal, and was joined by return backers August Capital, Clearstone Venture Partners and Jafco Ventures. Vyatta Inc., a San Mateo, Calif.-based maker of open-source routers, has raised $11 million in Series B funding. Comcast Interactive Capital led the deal, and was joined by return backers ArrowPath Venture Partners, ComVentures and JPMorgan Partners.
