Vision Capital will acquire a portfolio of investments from Banco Popolare, including Bormioli Rocco, a glass and plastic packaging manufacturer. Vision Capital’s VCP VII Luxco secured a €260 million bridge loan as part of the transaction; Vision Capital was represented by Ropes & Gray in the closing of the acquisition and the loan.
Amazon will tuck in a global book delivery retailer as the online shopping site just keeps on growing. It will acquire Luxembourg-based The Book Depository, an online seller of books. The company was founded in 2004 by Andrew Crawford.
Alven Capital, the VC based in Paris, France, will invest $1.8 million in Lengow, a SaaS provider to online retailers. Lengow was founded in July 2009 and counts Kima Ventures among its other investors. Funds will be used for R&D and for international expansion to the U.S., according to a statement released by the companies.

South Korea's Hana Financial Group and Lone Star are talking about lowering the $4.3 billion acquisition price for a majority stake in Korea Exchange Bank, Reuters said. So far, the deal for Korea Exchange Bank has been beset by regulatory hurdles. The two parties are in talks to extend the deal deadline.
The Carlyle Group has exited its investment in Indian publishing services company Newgen Knowledge Works Pvt Ltd, Reuters reported. Terms of the deal were not released. Carlyle bought a majority stake in the company in 2004, and sold it to private equity funds Franklin Templeton Private Equity Strategy and Aureos South Asia Fund, and venture and growth capital fund ePlanet Capital, Reuters wrote.
Investors 3i and Pragma Capital have teamed to take a minority stake in Loxam Holdings, a European equipment rental company. The €60 million deal will provide the private investors a minority stake in Loxam, which has annual revenue of about €700 million, according to a statement issued by the companies. Other specifics of the deal were not publicized. 3i’s Denis Ribon worked on the deal for the private equity firm.

Berkshire Partners and OMERS Private equity have closed their buy of Husky International. Onex Partners was the seller. Husky's management team retains a stake. Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley Senior Funding, RBC Capital Markets and TD Securities provided financing. Bolton, Ontario-based Husky, founded in 1953, is one of the world’s largest suppliers of injection molding equipment and services to the plastics industry.
SAP Ventures and private equity firm Sterling Partners teamed to invest $14 million in SAVO Group, the Chicago-based cloud-based sales enablement technology and consulting solutions company. SAVO Group, which counts Sterling among its investors, will see SAP Ventures’ managing director Doug Higgins will join its’ board of directors.
