Company Building New Generation of Social and Mobile Apps for Consumers
LA JOLLA, Calif. — Nettle, Inc. today announced that it has closed its seed financing round of $500,000 led by Google Ventures with participation from Advancit Capital, 500 Startups, and angel investors including former executives of eBay and Qualcomm.
Nettle, on the web at http://nettle.com, is creating a next-generation social/local/mobile application and website for the global entertainment market. The service is expected to launch next month.
Nettle was co-founded in October 2010 by Brian Dear, Nettle’s chief executive officer, and Dan O’Neill, Nettle’s chief technology officer. Dear is a serial entrepreneur who previously founded Eventful, Inc., in 2004. He brings extensive product, vision, design, and strategic experience gained from previous startups as well as from working in various management roles at RealNetworks, MP3.com, and eBay. O’Neill is also a serial entrepreneur with extensive experience as VP of Engineering and CTO at several companies including MP3.com and Vivendi Universal. He was a co-founder of Trusonic, Inc., which was sold to Mood Media Corporation in 2007. Dear and O’Neill worked together at MP3.com starting in early 1999.
