Canadian mid-market private equity firm Birch Hill Equity Partners has completed its previously announced acquisition of the industrial division of Newalta Corp (TSX: NAL). Birch Hill paid $300 million for the business, a provider of environmental services and recycling solutions in Canada, and assumed decommissioning liabilities. With the deal's close, the new stand-alone entity will be known as Terrapure Environmental. Headquartered in Burlington, Ontario, it will be led by Todd Moser, formerly a senior vice president at Newalta.
