According to various news sources, Gillian Brown, who heads the private equity unit at British Airways Pension Investment Management, will be leaving her post in the new few months. When asked for further details, a spokesperson for British Airways declined to comment. Prior to joining the airline, Brown worked at Mithras Capital Partners, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and Hermes Private Equity.
Z Capital Partners has acquired a minority ownership stake in Neways from S.A.C. Capital Advisors. No financial terms were disclosed. As a result of this transaction, Z Capital is now a majority shareholder of Neways. Headquartered in Springville, Utah, Neways is a proider of personal care, household and health and wellness products.
The Riverside Company has made an investment in Simcro Limited. No financial terms were disclosed. Westpac provided debt financing for the transaction. Based in Hamilton, New Zealand, Simcro is a provider of animal health-delivery systems.
MCI.TechVentures, an MCI fund, has acquired a minority stake in Answear.com. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Poland and Central Eastern Europe, Answear.com is an online clothing store.
Highbridge Capital Management said Friday that it has named Scott Kapnick CEO of the firm. Kapnick will be succeeding Glenn Dubin, co-founder of Highbridge, who will stay on as chairman. Prior to joining Highbridge, Kapnick worked at Goldman Sachs, most recently as a member of the firm's management committee and global co-head of investment banking. Based in New York, Highbridge is an alternative investment management organization.
Newport, California-based Versant Ventures said Friday that it has named James V. Mazzo as an operating partner. In his new position, Mazzo will focus on patient needs, new technology advancements and investment opportunities in the healthcare sector. He will also serve as chairman and CEO of AcuFocus, a Versant portfolio company. Previously, Mazzo was the CEO of Advanced Medical Optics and senior vice president of Abbott Labs.
Windjammer Capital Investors said Thursday that it has acquired Component Hardware from Liberty Partners. No financial terms were disclosed. Headquartered in Lakewood, NJ, Component Hardware is a provider of plumbing and hardware products.
McLean, Virginia-based Gladstone Investment Corp. said Thursday that it has named Peter Kotz as a managing director in its Chicago office. In his new position, Kotz will expand marketing initiatives and be responsible for managing new investment opportunities. Previously, Kotz worked at Gridiron Capital.
EnVivo Pharmaceuticals has named Deborah Dunsire, M.D., as its president and CEO. She also joins the company’s board of directors. Previously, Dr. Dunsire served as president and CEO of Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company. Based in Watertown, Mass., EnVivo Pharmaceuticals, which is backed by Fidelity Biosciences, is a company that focuses on treating central nervous system disorders.
JMI Equity said Thursday that it has made six promotions. Matt Emery and David Greenberg have become principals while Krishna Potarazu assumes the role of vice president. Also, Charles Dieveney has been named COO, Randy Guttman is now CFO and Melissa Caslin has been appointed vice president of talent. All promotions were effective July 1, 2013.
