Catterton Partners said Wednesday that it has raised $2.1 billion in total for two funds, Catterton Partners VII and Catterton Growth Partners II. According to the company, both funds were "substantially over-subscribed." Based in Greenwich, Conn., Catterton Partners is a private equity firm that focuses on consumer segments.
American Century Investments has launched a new fund focusing on emerging markets. Entitled Emerging Markets Equity Fund, the pool seeks to invest in companies that have growth potential and a market capitalization greater than $500 million. Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, American Century is a privately-held investment management firm.
GE Antares Capital, a unit of GE Capital, said Wednesday that it has named Chip Cushman as a managing director in GE Antares’ New York City office. Previously, Cushman worked as a managing director at Oaktree Capital Management. GE Antares is a middle-market lender.
File-sharing company Hightail, formerly known as YouSendIt, said Tuesday that it has bought adeptCloud. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in San Mateo, Calif., adeptCloud, which was seeded by The Entrepreneurs' Fund, is a provider of security solutions. Hightail, which is located in Campbell, Calif., is backed by Alloy Ventures, Cambrian Ventures, Adams Street Partners, Emergence Capital Partners, Sigma Partners and Sevin Rosen Funds.
Interim HealthCare, a portfolio company of The Halifax Group, has acquired Bluebird Care Franchises Limited. No financial terms were disclosed. Bluebird Care is a franchise that provides non-medical care services in the UK.
Washington, DC-based real estate investment firm Easterly Partners said Tuesday that it has acquired the National Maritime Center facility in Martinsburg, West Virginia. No financial terms were disclosed. The building is currently being occupied by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Solace Therapeutics said Tuesday that it has named Stacy Enxing Seng to its board of directors. Currently, Enxing Seng is president of Covidien's vascular therapies global business unit. Based in Framingham, Mass., Solace Therapeutics, which is backed by NEA, Saints Capital and Spray Venture Partners, is a maker of medical devices that help treat bladder disorders.
Investment firm Duff & Phelps Corp. said Tuesday that it has named Jacob Silverman as president of the company. The appointment is effective immediately. Previously, Silverman was the company's CFO and global investment banking leader. Robert Bartell has been named as the company's new global investment banking leader, succeeding Silverman in the role. Earlier this year, a consortium, comprised of The Carlyle Group, Stone Point Capital, Pictet & Cie and Edmund de Rothschild Group, bought Duff & Phelps for about $665.5 million.
DeZURIK has named Bryan Burns as president and CEO, effective September 16, 2013. Prior to joining DeZURIK, Burns was president of the crestliner division at Brunswick Corp. Based in Sartell, Minnesota, DeZURIK, which is backed by Granite Equity Partners, is a valve manufacturer.
Boston-based investment firm Allied Minds said Tuesday that it has named Johanna Dwyer as general manager of Allied Communications. Previously, Dwyer worked at Blackberry Ltd., where she most recently served as senior director of standards and technology strategy. A subsidiary of Allied Minds, Allied Communications is a producer of next-generation wireless technologies.
