New York-based Egis Capital Partners said Wednesday that it has hired Bill Polk as a managing partner. Previously, Polk worked at Capital One Bank.
EDAC Technologies Corp., a portfolio company of Greenbriar Equity, said Wednesday that it has named J. Mark McDonald as president and CEO. Prior to joining EDAC, McDonald worked at Rolls Royce, where he served as COO and executive vice president of energy. McDonald will be succeeding current CEO Dominick A Pagano who is retiring but will serve on EDAC's board. Headquartered in Cheshire, Conn., EDAC is a provider of components for the aerospace and industrial sectors.
According to a new report by Preqin, Asian private equity are showing more diversity in investment strategies. For instance, 44% of Asia-based investors cited small to mid-market buyout funds as offering the best private equity investment opportunities globally, as compared to 25% a year before. Also, 26% of Asia-based investors said that large to mega buyouts offer the most attractive private equity opportunities currently. However, investor interest in growth investments has dropped from 54% to 30% as compared to over a year ago.
Global private placement agent and investment firm First Avenue said Wednesday that it has hired Chris Leach as a partner. Leach, who will be based in the company's London office, will serve with David Hunter as co-head of international sales. Previously, Leach worked at Park Hill Group, where he served as a managing principal.
VMTurbo said Wednesday that it has named Benjamin Nye as CEO and Dr. Shmuel Kliger as president. Nye is a co-managing partner of Bain Capital Ventures while Dr. Kliger is founder of VMTurbo. Headquartered in Massachusetts, VMTurbo is a provider of virtualization management solutions for businesses. It is backed by Bain Capital Ventures, Highland Capital Partners and Globespan Partners.
New Orleans-based Southern Theatres, a a portfolio company of Veronis Suhler Stevenson, said Wednesday that it has named Ronald Krueger II as president. Krueger, who has served as COO of the company since 2009, will continue in that role in addition to his new post.
Scarborough Capital Management said Wednesday that it has new ownership and will retain its name even with this change. Previously owned by founder and former President/CEO Mike Scarborough, the company is now owned by five long-time employees. Based in Annapolis, Maryland, Scarborough Capital Management is a financial planning and investment firm.
Greycroft Partners said Wednesday that it has promoted Ellie Wheeler to principal effective immediately. Wheeler, who previously worked at Summit Partners, will remain based in the firm's New York office.
Houston-based investment firm CAZ Investments has named Marc J. Sharpe as executive vice president. Previously, Sharpe worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Wasserstein Perella & Co.
Accordion Partners has hired Hal Polley as a director. Previously, Polley was head of finance for MDx Medical. Based in New York, Accordion Partners is a private equity consulting firm.
