SeraCare Life Sciences, a provider of life science products for the diagnostic industry that is backed by Linden Capital Partners, has acquired Kirkegaard & Perry Laboratories. No financial terms were disclosed. Madison Capital Funding and BB&T Capital Partners providing financing to SeraCare for the acquisition. Based in Gaithersburg, Maryland, KPL is a provider of antibodies and related reagents for the diagnostic and life sciences sectors.
Data Collective said Friday that it has named Dr. Todd Papaioannou as an entrepreneur-in-residence. Prior to joining Data Collective, Dr. Papaioannou served as chief cloud architect for Yahoo. Based in Palo Alto and San Francisco, Calif., Data Collective is an early-stage venture capital firm that invests in big data companies.
Glen Allen, Virginia-based Markel Ventures has acquired Eagle Construction of VA. No financial terms were disclosed. Eagle Construction of VA is a home builder.
Calamos Investments said Friday that it has named Jeremy Hughes and Chris Langs as co-portfolio managers to its investment team. In their new position, both will manage the firm's fixed income/high-yield strategies, which includes the Calamos High Income Fund. In addition to Silver Lake Sumeru, BlackLine management and ICONIQ Capital will also be participating in the investment. And, as part of the transaction, Hollie Moore Haynes, John Brennan and Jason Babcoke of Silver Lake Sumeru join Blackline's board of directors. ICONIQ's Will Griffith will also join the board.
