Multimedia Plus said Tuesday that it has closed an unspecified amount of private founding with unnamed individual investors. It has also named Ernest Pomerantz to its board of directors. Pomerantz is chairman of StoneWater Capital. Based in New York, Multimedia Plus is a provider of interactive training programs.
The Riverside Company said Tuesday that it has acquired ProSites. No financial terms were disclosed. As a result of this acquisition, ProSites will be merged with Riverside portfolio company CPASiteSolutions, a provider of websites for the accounting industry. Fifth Street Capital provided financing for the transaction while Deloitte & Touche advised Riverside on financial due diligence. Also, ProSites Founder and CEO Lance McCollough will serve as the CEO of the combined company. Based in Temecula, Calif., ProSites specializes in medical and dental website design.
PNC said Tuesday that it has provided $27 million in senior secured financing for New York-based private equity firm Blue Wolf Capital Partners. Steel City Capital Funding, a division of PNC, provided a portion of the financing. The funds will be used by Blue Wolf to acquire Suwannee Lumber Company based in Cross City, Fla.
BioSante Pharmaceuticals said Tuesday that it has named Robert Schrepfer as vice president of new business development and contract manufacturing, effective August 12, 2013. Also, BioSante has named Daniel Raynor to its board, effective July 12, 2013. Prior to his new appointment, Schrepfer was a BioSante board member. Raynor is a managing partner at The Argentum Group, a private equity firm he co-founded. Headquartered in Baudette, Minn., BioSante Pharmaceuticals is a provider of specialty branded and generic pharmaceutical products.
San Francisco-based Anaplan said Tuesday that Mark Sarbiewski has been named CMO. In his new position, Sarbiewski will oversee all aspects of the company’s global marketing efforts. Backed by Granite Ventures, Shasta Ventures and Meritech Capital Partners, Anaplan is a provider of modeling and planning solutions for finance, sales, and operations.
AppsFreedom said Tuesday that it has named Badal Patel, Brent Lippman and Brian Burns to its board of directors. Also, Bill White and Ravi Pendurthi have been appointed strategic advisors. Burns is a founder and managing member of Grayhawk Capital. Headquartered in Chandler, Arizona, AppsFreedom is a provider of cloud solutions.
NRG Solar, a subsidiary of NRG Energy Inc., has acquired a Guam-based 25.65-megawatt (AC) solar project from Quantum Utility Generation LLC. No financial details of the transaction were disclosed. The Houston, Texas-based Quantum Utility Generation is backed by Quantum Energy Partners, a private equity firm, and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
Vention Medical, a portfolio company of KRG Capital Partners, has acquired RiverTech Medical. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, RiverTech Medical is a provider of polyimide tubing, braided polyimide, composite tubing and wire coatings for numerous medical devices and medical device applications.
Deltek, a portfolio company of Thoma Bravo, said Monday that it has acquired Acumen. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Austin, Texas, Acumen is a provider of project management solutions and services.
Abbott Labs said Monday that it has agreed to acquire OptiMedica Corp. for $250 million, plus additional payments totaling up to $150 million upon completion of certain milestones. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year. Based in Sunnyvale, Calif., OptiMedica Corp. is a developer of a laser system for cataract surgery. Its backers include Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Alloy Ventures, DAG Ventures, BlackRock Private Equity Partners and Bio*One Capital.
