Middle-market private equity firm Aterian Investment Partners has acquired Johnstown Wire Technologies. No financial terms were disclosed. BB&T Capital Markets served as advisor on the transaction. Based in Johnstown, Penn., Johnstown Wire is a producer of carbon and alloy wire in North America.
Parallax Capital Partners has raised over $115 million in the final close of its first fund. Atlantic-Pacific Capital served as placement agent. The fund focuses on lower middle market software and related tech firms.
Vestar Capital Partners has received a $260 million loan from GE Antares, a unit of GE Capital Markets, to support its acquisition of Institutional Shareholder Services. GE Capital Markets acted as joint lead arranger and bookrunner on this transaction. ISS is a provider of proxy advisory and corporate governance solutions to financial market participants.
Global management consulting firm Accenture has added Paula A. Price and Frank K. Tang to its board of directors. The appointments became effective May 9. Price is the former executive vice president and chief financial officer of Ahold USA, while Tang is CEO and managing partner of FountainVest Partners, a China-focused private equity fund.
French chemicals group Novacap, which is backed by Ardian, has closed a refinancing on the high-yield bond market for 310 million euros. Also, the company has received a revolving credit facility of 65 million euros. Goldman Sachs was the lead bookrunner on the transaction with support from Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas and Societe Generale.
CPS Products Canada, a portfolio company of Harbour Group, has acquired the assets of UView Ultraviolet Systems. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Mississauga, Ontario, UView is a maker of tools and equipment for professional automotive technicians.
Private equity firm Paine & Partners has made an undisclosed investment in QC Corp. Also, Don Gordon has been named chairman of QC Corp while his son Jason has become CEO. QC Corp. is a provider of granular and dry micronutrients and ferrous sulfate products.
Investment bank Ladenburg has named Robert “Bert” Hazlett as a managing director of equity research covering biopharmaceuticals. The appointment is effective immediately. Prior to joining Ladenburg, Hazlett worked at ROTH Capital Partners where he served as a senior research analyst covering the biotech and emerging pharmaceutical sectors.
Healthcare services-focused private equity firm Varsity Healthcare Partners has acquired Katzen Eye Group, an ophthalmologic and optometric services practice. Together both will form EyeCare Services Partners Holdings, which will be based in Baltimore and be led by CEO Michael Fricke. No financial terms were disclosed.
