L Capital Asia, a private equity fund backed by LVHM, has invested about NTD 750 million in DR. WU. Based in Taiwan, DR WU is a clinical skincare brand.
Thoma Bravo has agreed to buy TravelClick from Genstar for $930 million. The deal is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2014. Evercore served as financial advisor to Genstar and TravelClick while Ropes & Gray was legal advisor. TravelClick is a provider of cloud-based solutions for the hospitality sector.
CVC Capital Partners has acquired a controlling stake in Da Niang. No financial terms were disclosed. The seller is Wu Guoqiang, founder of Da Niang, who will continue as a shareholder. Based in China, Da Niang is a quick-service restaurant operator.
GTCR has teamed up with Carl Hull and Eric Tardif to launch Maravai Life Sciences. Based in San Diego, Calif., Marvai will focus on acquiring companies and products in the diagnostics and life sciences sector. Hull and Tardit are the former CEO and senior vice president of Gen-Probe respectively. GTCR has committed to investing up to $300 million in Maravai.
New York-based private equity firm Oak Hill Capital said Tuesday that it has hired Brian N. Cherry as a partner. The appointment is effective immediately. Previously, Cherry worked at J.H. Whitney & Co. where he served as a senior managing director.
Gordon Brothers Group, a Boston-based advisory, restructuring and investment firm, has received approval by bankruptcy court to sell all assets formerly owned by Green Field Energy Services. A well service provider specializing in turbine-powered hydraulic fracturing services, Green Field filed for bankruptcy on October 27, 2013. The company's assets are valued at more than $250 million.
Roark Capital's environmental services platform Synergy Environmental Corp. has acquired Central Jersey Waste and Recycling and sister companies, Premier Food Waste Recycling and Central Repairs. No financial terms were disclosed. Headquartered in Ewing, NJ, CJW is a provider of waste and recycling services for the New Jersey and Pennsylvania markets.
Auction.com has named Jeff Epstein to its board of directors. Epstein is the former chief financial officer for Oracle. Currently, he is an operating partner at Bessemer Venture Partners and a senior advice for Oak Hill Capital Partners. Auction.com, which is backed by Google Capital and Stone Point Capital, is an online real estate marketplace.
Vestar Capital Partners has agreed to acquire Institutional Shareholder Services from MSCI for $364 million. The transaction is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2014. Morgan Stanley served as financial advisor to MSCI on the transaction. ISS is a provider of proxy advisory and corporate governance solutions to financial market participants.
Wi2Wi Corp. has named current board member Prakash Hariharan as vice chairman and interim CEO. The firm's previous CEO Dr. Reza Ahy has left his position. Hariharan is a former portfolio manager at Toronto-based Front Street Capital. Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., Wi2Wi is a maker of embedded wireless connectivity solutions.
