Investment bank Evercore has hired Randy Crath as a senior managing director in its oil and gas group. Previously, Crath worked at Scotia Waterous where he served as a managing director. He will be based in the firm's Houston office.
CableOrganizer, a portfolio company of KT Capital, has acquired EquiCross. CapitalSouth Growth Fund led the funding for the transaction. CEA Group served as advisor to EquiCross on the sale. Based in Tampa, Florida, EquiCross is a provider of crowd control, traffic control and safety products.
Insight Venture Partners has acquired a majority stake in FireMon. No financial terms were disclosed. As a result of the transaction, Mike Triplett and Martin Angert of Insight Venture Partners have been added to FireMon's board of directors. Headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, FireMon is a security intelligence solutions provider.
Indiana Limestone Company, a portfolio company of Wynnchurch Capital, has hired Tom Quigley as the CEO. Previously, Quigley was a general manager at Owens Corning. Indiana Limestone is a a limestone quarrier and fabricator.
PPL Corp. has agreed to spin off PPL Energy Supply and merge it with RIverstone's generation business to form Talen Energy Corp., a new power producer. When the transaction closes, PPL Corp.'s shareholders will own 65 percent of Talen Energy while Riverstone will own 35 percent. Talen Energy will be headquartered in Pennsylvania. Also, Paul A. Farr, PPL's executive vice president and CFO, will be the new firm's president and CEO as well as a director. Talen Energy is expected to be listed on the NYSE. Citigroup Global Markets and Morgan Stanley provided financial advice to PPL Corp. while JPMorgan served as financial advisor to Riverstone.
Denver-based energy infrastructure firm Caliber Midstream Partners has named R. Poe Reed as president and CEO. The appointment became effective June 9, 2014. Previously, Reed worked at Enable Midstream where he served as executive vice president and chief commercial officer. Caliber is a joint venture between First Reserve's energy infrastructure fund and Triangle Petroleum Corp.
Hedge fund services provider Conifer and Vastardis, an independent fund administration firm, have completed their merger and formed Conifer FInancial Services. With offices in San Francisco, New York, the British Virgin Islands, Singapore and Nova Scotia, Conifer Financial Services is a global independent assets services firm.
New York-based private equity firm Sycamore Partners has raised $2.5 billion for its second fund. Simpson Thacher & Bartlett acted as fund counsel.
Lovell Minnick Partners has acquired a minority ownership stake in 361 Capital. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Denver, 361 Capital is an asset management firm that specializes in liquid alternative investments.
Global private equity asset management firm Hamilton Lane has promoted Tomoko Kitao to a director in its Tokyo office. Also, the firm has named Masayoshi Yazawa as a senior advisor responsible for leading business development efforts in Japan. And, in its Hong Kong office, Hamilton Lane has promoted Josh Jacob to principal, Brenda Lau to vice president and Collwyn Tan to senior associate on the co-investment team. Also, in Hong Kong, the firm has added Steve An to its business development team.
