Investment group Samena Capital has acquired a 30.6 percent stake in RAK Ceramics. The seller was the ruling family of Ras Al Khaimah, which will continue to maintain a "significant" stake in the firm. No financial terms were disclosed. As a result of the transaction, Samena Capital will take a seat on RAK Ceramics' board. Headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, RAK Ceramics is a ceramics manufacturer.
American & Efird Global, a portfolio company of KPS Capital Partners, said Monday that it will buy "substantially" all of Gutermann's global industrial and consumer thread business. No financial terms were disclosed for the transaction, which is expected to be completed on June 30. Based in Gutach, Germany, Gutermann is a maker of sewing thread products for consumer and industrial applications
Warwick has completed its acquisition of R/C Sugarkane from Riverstone. No financial terms were disclosed; however, ArcLight Capital Partners led a consortium that includes Prudential Capital Group, Kramlich Investment Company, Serengti Asset Management and the Freeman Group, to provide the funding for the transaction. R/C Sugarkane is an upstream oil and gas company that owns 7,300 acres of the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas.
Genstar Capital has named Harry Totonis to its strategic advisory board. Previously, Totonis worked at Surescripts where he served as president and CEO.
First Reserve said Monday that it has closed $2.5 billion for its second energy infrastructure fund. Its initial target was $2 billion.
Lone Star Funds has completed its acquisition of DFC Global Corp. According to terms of the transaction, DFC Global stockholders are receiving $9.50 in cash for each share of DFC stock they own. Also, the company's stock will no longer trade on the NASDAQ and be delisted. DFC Global Corp. is a provider of alternative financial services.
GE Capital has increased its credit facility to Southern Theatres, which is owned by Veronis Suhler Stevenson, to $92 million. According to the company, the funding will be used for the build out of several new Movie Tavern locations. Based in New Orleans, Southern Theatres is a movie theater chain.
Cumberland Consulting Group, a portfolio company of Tailwind Capital, said Monday that it has acquired Cipe Consulting Group. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Seattle, Cipe Consulting Group is a healthcare tech consulting firm.
Private equity firm Sycamore Partners on Thursday said it was interested in acquiring apparel retailer Express Inc (EXPR.N), after disclosing a 9.9 percent stake that made it the largest shareholder in the company.
CURT Manufacturing, a portfolio company of Audax Group, has acquired Aries Automotive. No financial terms were disclosed. Headquartered in Torrance, Calif., Aries is a provider of aftermarket truck accessories. Alvarez & Marsal Transaction Advisory Group acted as financial advisor on the transaction.
