Genstar Capital Partners is launching an eighth fund, according to an SEC filing. The target in the document was not specified. In August 2015, the San Francisco-based middle-market focused private equity firm closed its seventh fund at $2 billion, beating its $1.5 billion target as previously reported.

AmeriLife, an annuity, life and health insurance marketing group, has hired Scott R. Perry as CEO. Previously, Perry worked at CNO Financial Group in Chicago where he served as chief business officer. AmeriLife is backed by J.C. Flowers & Co.

RLJ Equity Partners and SJ Partners LLC have acquired Native Maine Produce and Specialty Foods LLC, a fresh food service distributor in Maine. No financial terms were disclosed.

MC Capital Advisors, an affiliate of Media Content Capital and PassmoreVR have launched a joint venture VRMedia. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Los Angeles and Austin, VRMedia is a developer of software and hardware for creating virtual reality content.

Solera Holdings Inc has acquired Digidentity BV, a provider of next-generation technologies that secure and authenticate online identities. No financial terms were disclosed. Solera’s backers include Vista Equity Partners, Koch Industries and Goldman Sachs.

Sterling Partners has made an undisclosed investment in Amerigo Education. Chicago-based Amerigo Education helps international students gain acceptance into elite U.S. universities.

H.I.G. Whitehorse has appointed Kenneth Borton as a managing director. Previously, Borton, who will be based in London, worked at Citi where he served as a managing director responsible for credit opportunities business in the EMEA.

TSG Consumer Partners has promoted Dan Costello and Michael Layman to managing directors. Costello joined the firm in 2007 while Layman came on board in 2009.

Arsenal Capital Partners has named Joseph M. Salley as an operating partner for the firm's specialty industrials group. Salley is the former CEO of Milliken & Company.
