The Blackstone Group named Jitesh Gadhia as a senior managing irector in Blackstone Advisory Partners. Gadhia was most recently managing director and head of advisory at Barclays Capital. Gadhia will be based in London.

Prospect Partners LLC closed its third fund above the original hard cap of $185 million. Prospect Partners III LP picked up $200 million in commitments. The Chicago-based shop’s fund II closed in 2004 at $165 million. It plans to use the latest fund to invest exclusively in small companies based in the U.S. across a range of specialty manufacturing, distribution and service industry segments.

3M signed a definitive agreement to acquire Attenti Holdings S.A. from an investor group led by Francisco Partners. The transaction has a purchase price of $230 million. Attenti is a Tel Aviv, Israel-based supplier of remote people monitoring technologies.

Irving Place Capital of New York agreed to acquire Alpha Packaging, a St. Louis, Mo.-based maker of plastic bottles and jars for the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and personal care markets. The transaction is expected to close in September.
