Anti-virus software maker AVG Technologies said that it would sell 8 million shares at $16 to $18 apiece in its initial public offering, Reuters reported Tuesday. The company filed last week for an IPO. AVG Technologies is backed by investors including Intel Capital, Grisoft Holdings and TA Associates.
Olympus Capital has invested 5 billion rupees (about $98.7 million) for a “significant minority stake” in Indian healthcare firm, DM Healthcare Pvt Ltd., Reuters reported. DM Healthcare operates medical centers, hospitals and pharmacies in the Middle East as well as secondary and tertiary care hospitals in India, Reuters wrote. Veda Corporate Advisors was the advisor to DM Healthcare on the transaction.
New York based buyout shop Baker Capital has exited its investment in ADAPTIX Inc., selling the company to a subsidiary of Acacia Research Corp. for $160 million in cash. Carrollton, Texas-based ADAPTIX is a developer of mobile wireless systems. Evercore Partners served as financial advisors to ADAPTIX. Baker Capital first invested in ADAPTIX in 2004.
Claire Kendrick has joined private equity firm Z Capital Partners as a managing director and head of economic research. Kendrick is responsible for transactions in the transportation, metal and mining, and paper and forestry industries, the firm said in a written release. The National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India is in talks with private equity firms to raises 300-350 million rupees to comply with minimum capital rules, Reuters reported Tuesday. The exchange is India’s fourth largest, and currently has equity capital and reserves of 650-700 million rupees. Names of potential private equity backers were not released.
Greenbriar Equity Group has acquired PetroChoice, a distributor of petroleum vehicle lubricant products, from KRG Capital Partners. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. PetroChoice is based in Riddlesburg, Penn.
Charlie O’Donnell, the venture investor and former principal at First Round Capital, has launched Brooklyn Bridge Ventures. According to a press release Tuesday, the firm is focusing on early and seed stage technology investments in the “Greater Brooklyn Area,” which, naturally, includes the rest of New York City. O’Donnell did not release information about LPs or the amount the firm has raised.
Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group and Sumitomo Corp. are buying the aircraft-leasing business of Royal Bank of Scotland in a deal worth $7.3 billion, Reuters reported Tuesday. SMFG will take around 70% of RBS Aviation Capital, while trading company Sumitomo will hold the rest, Reuters reported.
Fipar Holding, a Moroccan private equity firm, is planning to raise 2 billion dirhams ($230 million) in an initial public offering on the Casablanca bourse, Reuters reported Tuesday. Fipar's assets include a 17% stake in Morocco's second biggest telecoms operator Medi Telecom, and a 30% stake in the firm managing the country's biggest port in Tangier, Reuters wrote.
A number of firms will reportedly bid next week for one of the UK's largest law schools, The College of Law, Reuters reported Friday. Buyers linked to the deal include education company Pearson, KKR-owned Laureate International Universities and buyout house Providence Equity Partners, as well as Palamon Capital Partners and a joint bid from Exponent Private Equity and Sovereign Capital, Reuters wrote.
