Gerard Arpey is joining Emerald Creek Group as a partner. Arpey joins from AMR Corp., where he served as Chairman and CEO. Emerald Creek Group is a Houston-based private equity firm focused on real estate.
Middle-market investor Lyceum Capital has acquired security software maker Clearswift. Terms of the deal were not released. Clearswift’s software is designed to manage inbound threats, data loss prevention, web access policies and compliance across both web and email communications, the company says. Clearswift is based in the U.K.
AMR Corp., the parent company of American Airlines Inc., is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in order to “achieve a cost and debt structure that is competitive in the airline industry,” the company announced Tuesday. The company said it plans to continue normal business operations through the reorganization process.
Nordic Capital has appointed Carnegie and SEB Enskilda as advisors for the sale or public listing of Swedish industrial packaging firm Nefab, Reuters reported Monday. The value of a potential deal has been estimated between 2 billion crowns ($286 million) and 350 million euros ($464 million), Reuters wrote.

The Royal Bank of Scotland has collected final bids for its RBS Aviation Capital aircraft leasing business and hopes to select a preferred bidder early next year, Reuters wrote Monday. China Development Bank, Wells Fargo, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group and a Macquarie-led consortium are in the running for the business, which RBS is selling as part of a broader strategy to divest non-core assets.
