Paris-based magazine publisher Fleurus Presse, an OpenGate Capital portfolio company, has acquired Arts Magazine, a French publication. Terms of the deal were not released. Founded in 2004, Arts Magazine sells more than 30,000 copies a month through its paid-for circulation base.
Listed Sealed Air Corp. announced that CD&R Friends & Family Fund VIII, L.P. and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice Fund VIII, L.P. will sell roughly 14 million shares of its common stock in an underwritten offering. Barclays Capital is acting as sole underwriter for the offering.
Australian private equity firm Archer Capital has raised $1.5 billion for its fifth fund, Reuters reported Wednesday. The firm raised the fund over four months, Reuters wrote. Limited partners in the fund were not named.
Malaysian fastfood chain operators KFC Holdings Bhd and QSR Brands Bhd have agreed to accept a takeover offer from CVC Capital Partners and a state investment arm, Reuters wrote Wedesnday. London-based CVC Capital and Malaysia's investment arm for the state of Johor had earlier offered 5.24 billion ringgit ($1.65 billion) to buy KFC and QSR.
Cerberus Capital Management added Allen Ukritnukun as head of European Corporate Distressed Trading and Investing, the firm announced Wednesday. He will be based in London. Previously, Ukritnukun was a London-based Managing Director at Goldman Sachs within Global Credit, responsible for European private distressed trading and investing.
Golden Seeds, an investment firm focused on women entrepreneurs, has closed its second fund with $26.5 million in committed capital. Golden Seeds Fund 2 LP will invest across technology, life sciences and consumer goods. The fund already has eight portfolio companies, including AboutOne, maker of an online household management system; and Cognition Therapeutics, which is developing drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. Golden Seeds is based in New York.
Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, a listed, Japanese pharmaceutical research company, is buying venture-backed Intellikine Inc. Takeda will pay $190 million in cash, and up to $120 million in additional milestone payments. Intellikine was backed by at least $41 million from venture investors including Abingworth, BiogenIdec, CMEA Capital, Fintech Global Capital, Novartis Venture Funds, Sofinnova Ventures and U.S. Venture Partners.
Distribution International, a portfolio company of buyout firm Audax Group, has acquired Blackhawk Specialty Co. Port Arthur, Texas-based Blackhawk is a distributor and fabricator of insulation materials and safety equipment for industrial markets. Terms of the deal were not released.
Swedish private equity firm EQT will pay up to 1.8 billion Norwegian crowns ($306 million) to buy Norway's second largest data and telecoms provider, Ventelo, Reuters reported Wednesday.
EverPower Wind Holdings Inc., which is backed by buyout firm Terra Firma, will acquire Patton Wind Farm from wind energy company OwnEnergy. Terms of the deal were not released. The Patton Wind Farm is located in Pennsylvania, and expected to be operational by the end of 2012.
